New Album Releases - Week of 3/23

Dillinger Escape Plan. Dropkick Murphy’s. Two crazy groups of mo-fo’s spearhead a slow week of new album releases.
Dillinger Escape Plan - Option Paralysis: The mathcore band releases its fourth studio album, its first with drummer Billy Rymer. “Option Paralysis”, is the proud debut release of the band on Season of Mist. The album, whose title has nearly unanimously topped the music press’ “2010 Most Anticipated” lists, sees them choose a heavier direction while simultaneously able to exercise and paralyze many other blissfully unexpected options. With this single output, the band’s fourth album, this intensely innovative unit will once again rearrange and redirect the possibilities in music. (myspace)
Dropkick Murphy’s - Live On Lansdowne, Boston MA (CD + DVD): Recorded over 6 nights and 7 shows in March 2009, this live CD and Hi-Def DVD package goes well with any anger management problem or Boston Red Sox conversation. (myspace)
The White Stripes - Under Great White Northern Lights: In the summer of 2007, shortly after the release of their 6th album ‘Icky Thump’, The White Stripes headed north of their hometown of Detroit to embark on an ambitious journey across Canada. The plan was to play a show in every province and territory in Canada, from B.C. to Newfoundland to Nunavut.
White called upon filmmaker Emmett Malloy to come and document this trek for the band. Malloy had directed videos for the band in the past, and seemed eager to hit the road with them. Equipped with a couple of 16mm cameras, and a few other documenting devices, the band and crew all headed north. The end result was ‘Under Great White Northern Lights’.
The film culminates with their 10th anniversary show in Nova Scotia. Damn, its been 10 years already?
